UKCA Chemistry and Aerosol Tutorials at vn11.8 using Rose & Cylc

The following tutorials will teach you how to use various aspects of UKCA, and the parts of Rose (the Unified Model's python-based user interface) that are specific to UKCA.

General use of the Rose and UKCA:

Difficulty HARD
Time to Complete 1-2 hours

Remember to run mosrs-cache-password in your Rose suite and UM branch terminals.

  1. (EASY, under 30 minutes) Running existing UKCA Suite
  2. (EASY, under 30 minutes) Exploring Rose
  3. (EASY, under 30 minutes) What is STASH?
  4. (HARD, 1-2 hours) Adding new chemical tracers
  5. (HARD, 1-2 hours) Adding new emissions
  6. (MEDIUM, 30-60 minutes) Adding new chemical reactions
  7. (MEDIUM, 30-60 minutes) Adding dry deposition of chemical species
  8. (EASY, under 30 minutes) Adding wet deposition of chemical species
  9. (HARD, 1-2 hours) Adding new UKCA chemical diagnostics
  10. (HARD, 1-2 hours) Examining Aerosol Impacts
  11. Worked Example: Developing a change for submission to the trunk

These tutorials are an update and expansion of the tutorials which were at UM8.2, UM8.4, UM10.4, and UM10.9.

This tutorial has been funded by the NERC Advanced Training: Short Courses award scheme and the ACITES Atmospheric Chemistry Modelling Network.
